Google.org and the Johnson & Johnson Foundation announced a $10 million philanthropic collaboration to bridge the AI adoption gap in the U.S. rural healthcare workforce. Serving as a lifeline for millions of Americans, these healthcare professionals provide essential medical services in remote and often resource-constrained environments.

Each will commit $5 million to fund AI literacy training for healthcare workers, aiming to reduce administrative burdens and return the focus to patient care through three core pillars:

  • AI Literacy: Building foundational knowledge to help clinical and administrative staff navigate new technology safely and confidently
  • Burnout Reduction: Supporting the adoption of AI tools to streamline paperwork and administrative tasks
  • Community-driven Solutions: Collaborating with trusted organizations to ensure training meets local operational realities

This partnership expands Google.org’s AI Opportunity Fund, an initiative to help Americans develop essential AI skills, and J&J’s CareCommunity, which advances programs that improve access to quality care for communities worldwide.
