Washington, D.C.—The Natural Products Association (NPA) announced that its annual federal government advocacy Fly-In Day on Capitol Hill will take place on May 12, 2026. NPA organizes and hosts this national advocacy event to provide retailers, manufacturers, ingredient suppliers and all industry stakeholders from across the country with the opportunity to make an impact.

The annual event, which is a centerpiece of the NPA advocacy program, creates an opportunity for attendees to advocate to protect their industry and customers, helping to shape policies through in-person meetings with members of Congress and their staff.

Thousand have attended the event over the last decade to learn more about advocacy, to network with industry peers, and to share knowledgeable, thoughtful, and persuasive input with key policymakers. NPA said the event has become the leading gathering point for industry representatives to meet with members of Congress and explain how public policy can help or hurt the thousands of Americans who are part of the industry, as well as the millions of Americans who safely use nutritional supplements every day.

The event will kick off on Monday, May 11, with a welcome reception at the Hilton Washington DC Capitol Hill. Then on Tuesday, May 12, attendees will gather for a breakfast buffet and training before attending Fly-In Day meetings in various congressional offices. A closing reception will be held at the NPA Headquarters. For details and a full list of activities, visit the event page website.

“2026 will be a pivotal year for the dietary supplement industry, requiring vigorous engagement from our members on Capitol Hill,” said Daniel Fabricant, Ph.D., President and CEO of NPA, in the event announcement. “On one hand, we face mounting threats by state legislatures to restrict consumer access to dietary supplement products, based on false and misleading information disseminated by our critics regarding federal oversight of the industry. On the other hand, the Trump administration’s focus on Making America Healthy Again provides tremendous opportunities in the 119th Congress and executive branch to expand access to dietary supplement products. On Fly-In Day, our members will play a critical role educating members of Congress and their staff on the health benefits of our products and supporting the association’s legislative priorities.”

Heather Wainer, WholeFoods Magazine Publisher and Chief Business Officer, has attended NPA’s advocacy day and stresses the benefits for retailers, brands, suppliers, and all industry stakeholders from across the country. At the 2024 event, she shared, “We discussed the issues that affect us all and learned how each and every one of us can make a difference. If we do not fight for ourselves, who will?”

Reflecting on the 2025 event, attendee Richard Ortega, Associate Editor of WholeFoods Magazine, stated, “For me, walking toward the nation’s capital alongside colleagues and members of the industry has a certain aura to it that is hard to describe. Attending meetings with state representatives and/or members of their staff across several federal buildings and having honest dialogue about the issues that could potentially affect you and your company is a great reminder of how much power our voices have…For anyone who has never attended NPA’s Fly-In event, the WholeFoods Magazine team strongly encourages you to participate if you are able. The products we create, the services we provide, and everything we offer as an industry affects the lives of millions of individuals, and we need to advocate for this industry so we can best serve those who rely on our products and services. For those who can’t attend events like Fly In Day in person, follow NPA’s Action Center for other ways to make your voice heard on key issues.”
