Cheers to 90 Years! NPA Kicks Off 90th Anniversary Celebration

Washington, DC—The Natural Products Association (NPA), formally announced the launch of its 90th anniversary celebration, marking nine decades of leadership, advocacy and service to consumers and industry stakeholders. The trade group, which was founded in 1936, has played a defining role in shaping the modern natural products marketplace, leading landmark policy battles and addressing today’s emerging regulatory and scientific challenges.

NPA outlined some of the most significant moments on its website:

  • 1936: Manufacturers and retailers unite, determined to protect natural health.
  • 1994: DSHEA becomes law, ensuring that supplements remain accessible to millions of Americans.
  • 2006: Safety strengthened with mandatory Adverse Event Reporting, a victory for consumers and credibility.
  • 2026: NPA plays a key role in the “Make America Healthy Again” movement, pushing bold reforms that keep the industry strong and the consumer voice heard.

“For 90 years, NPA has stood as the industry’s steady and credible voice,” said Daniel Fabricant, Ph.D., NPA President and CEO. “This anniversary is an opportunity not only to reflect on the progress we’ve made, but to reaffirm our commitment to leading the industry through the challenges and opportunities ahead.”

Marking a Milestone

Throughout 2026, NPA will commemorate its anniversary with special events, policy initiatives and industry engagement, including its annual Fly-In Day on May 12, as well as educational programming and a capstone anniversary celebration. The year-long 90th Anniversary Campaign will work to “strengthen the association’s advocacy, legal and scientific capabilities to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving health and wellness landscape.” The campaign will support:

  • Enhanced engagement with federal and state policymakers
  • Expanded scientific and regulatory expertise
  • Continued defense of innovation and consumer choice

“This organization has endured for nine decades because it has always been guided by principle, science, integrity and responsibility,” said Jim Emme, Chairman of NPA’s Board of Directors and CEO of NOW Health Group. “Our task now is to ensure that NPA remains strong and effective for the next generation of innovators and consumers.”

Adel Villalobos, Chairman of the 90th Anniversary Campaign and Founder of Lief Labs, added, “The challenges facing this industry today demand experienced leadership and a unified voice. This campaign is about investing in the future so that NPA can continue to defend innovation, protect consumers, and lead with authority for decades to come.”
